Day 7 - The Road Goes Ever On And On...

My uncle Roger had left, and we were preparing to start our 4 day road trip along the south-west coast of England. We set off for Oxford in the early morning, and we stopped at a place or two along the way.

When you look at it initially, you might notice the woman's reflection in the glass. What the picture is actually supposed to be is a billboard outside Anne Hathaway's Cottage. For this we stopped off in Stratford-upon-Avon. I was so unimpressed with what I saw, though. It was like this: "Shakespeare's Wife? Oh. Okay. Moving on..."

Needless to say we high-tailed it out of there. But then, just outside of Oxford, we came to Blenham Palace.

The town outside of Blenham. We stopped to pick up some cash, and I thought it looked pretty, so I snapped a shot. Then I ran for the high hills when I got chased by a wasp. Damn things!

The tour guides wouldn't allow photography inside the palace (and we were rushed through to make sure nobody did!), so this is the fountain outside. It's so, so rank. Does nobody clean the thing?

Now this was cool. It's the Mermaid Fountain from the Italian Gardens. Because this was in the "private section" they wouldn't let us view this area. Thanks be to the person who invented digital zoom!

And lastly, a Random Scene shot of a stone vase from the garden maze. The grounds looked pretty nice (another Capability Brown masterpiece), but the day was just wearing on me. Plus it looked really gray out, and I just wanted to get the heck out of there.

Blenham was the most extremely boring part of our road trip (thankfully!). But we had to make way to find a room to sleep in. We managed to get a room in the Travelodge, and from there we set forth on our quest for the holy pub - The Eagle and Child. Cause damn, we were really hungry!
