Finally, the time had come to go where many people have gone before: Chester Zoo!
The first enclosure we visited was the Elephants. Compared to Vancouver Zoo, this place is the Taj Mahal! I managed to get this
snapshot of the little baby elephant before the place was totally swamped. So cute!
This shot was too funny to pass up. I just loved the way they were lined up. Naturally symmetrical shots are the coolest!
Horray, the orangutangs! The one on the right was walking around the entire enclosure with the burlap sack over his head. Simply fascinating,
these creatures!
Another artsy picture, this time featuring our feathered friends. (It was my uncle's idea, ssh!)
More giraffes! This one peeked around the corner just as I whipped my camera out, so I couldn't help myself.
The poor, lonely rhino. Virtually nobody wanted to see him, so it was really quiet near his enclosure. A funny story: I just decided to
do a little squeak like I was calling my cats, and the rhino JUMPED. Poor bugger, his nerves must be shot. Still, I thought that was priceless.
Most of the animals were hidden in their enclosures, because of the heat of the day (it was 28C. Eek!) So I didn't get very many good pictures. That didn't stop me from having a good time though! And it allowed me to relax and enjoy the North, for the next day we would begin a 1,000 mile journey to the southern shores of the U.K. |
