As I found out the previous evening, poor Nicola and her family had their luggage lost by British Airways. So instead of our
previous plan to spend the night at Blackpool in a Bed and Breakfast, we went to her grandmother's house in St. Helens.
This is Nicola's grandmother, Edna. She's such a darling little woman! She collects Caithness paperweights and Royal
Doulton, and has a lively sense of humour. If I had a grandma, I'd hope she'd be like her!
And here's Nicola (aka gnosis_soul)! She didn't know I was taking this. I think it turned out really well!
Obviously this one's a little more posed. She got the clothes at the only Costco I've ever seen in the UK. I didn't even know there was a Costco!
Very chic, though. Too bad we didn't find anything on our shopping trip to the mall.
This is the entire family playing a game of Tripoly. Left to right: Nicola's mother, Aunt Gloria (I think), Grandma Edna, her Uncle
(I suck at names!), and her father (who reminds me of John Rhyse Davies so, so much). It was so cool to actually play
games with the family, something I never do at home. Must change that.
Here's me, pointing to my winnings. People should learn by now that they should never play card games with me
when they involve money, haha!
And a close-up of the booty. I won over a pound in pennies! Go me!
Nicola and I bunked down in the front room for the night. Unfortunately the idiots next door were pounding loud techno music until 2AM in the morning, and Nicola wasn't feeling too well, so we got very little sleep. That morning I called mom back, and we agreed to head out to Blackpool that day since I was halfway there. As I write this, Nicola is still in England (with her luggage!), so I hope she has had a really good trip. Mine, however, got worse. |
